More definitions for physics_AS

These are probably the points I noted down and memorized them. They are good for revision.

1) Work done by a gas_ W= pressure * change in volume
2) Power_ force*velocity (very important)
3) One watt_ one watt is the power expended when 1 joule of work is done in 1 second.
4) Elasticity_ It’s the property of the body which enables the body to regain its position when the deforming force is removed.
5) Transverse waves_ The motion of oscillation is perpendicular to the wave motion.
6) Polarization_ The oscillations are made to move in single plane only.
7) Interference of waves_ It’s the effect produced by the superposition of two coherent waves passing through the same region.
8) Intensity_ It’s the rate at which energy is transferred by the wave to the unit area which is perpendicular to the direction of the propagation of wave. Point to be noted__ Intensity is directly proportional to the Square of frequency and Square of amplitude.
9) Potential difference_ P.d between the two points is the energy dissipated when 1 coloumb of charge flows from one point to another.
10) Electromotive force_ It’s the energy supplied from source to each coloumb charge to drive the charge round the complete circuit.
11) Ohm_ It’s the resistance of the conductor if when a current of 1A flows through it, the voltage across it is 1 volt.
12) Kirchhoff’s 1st law_ The algebraic sum of currents entering a junction in a circuit is zero.
13) Kirchhoff’s 2nd law_ Round a closed loop the algebraic sum of E.M.Fs is equal to the algebraic sum of the products of current & resistance. This post & the previous one almost cover all the definitions important for exams.
